Trixie G Smith
Biography
Trixie G. Smith is Director of Global Alliances in Literacy and Engagement (GALE), Director of the Red Cedar Writing Project, and Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures at Michigan State University. Her interests include global and community engagement, writing support programming, embodiment, and queer rhetorics. Her teaching and research are infused with issues of gender and activism even as they revolve around writing center theory and practice, writing across the curriculum, writing pedagogy, teacher training, and cultural rhetorics. Her motto is that we’re all just humans learning with/from other humans (you know, with bodies, feelings, and lives in and outside the academy). She received her PhD in Composition and Rhetoric at the University of South Carolina and has served on many inter/national and regional boards, including the Conference on College Composition and Communication, the International Writing Center Association, and Council of Writing Program Administrators Consultant Evaluator Service. Her publications can be seen in a variety of journals and books, including Praxis: A Writing Center Journal, The Writing Center Journal, and College Composition and Communication.
