At OWHN Africa, we are dedicated to addressing the critical challenges related to water accessibility, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in sub-Saharan Africa.

Our Programs

Health Humanities Outreach (H20) Initiative

 Combining science and the arts to improve WASH practices and reduce health risks through participatory theatre, surveys, and workshops.

Capacity Building and Research Support (CBRS)

  Empowering universities and institutions to enhance education and research in the WASH sector.

International Conference on Water in Africa (ICWA)

A flagship event aimed at mobilizing stakeholders to explore the role of water in achieving the UN SDGs.

Water and Public Health Research Group (WPHRG)

A multidisciplinary team studying water, public health, and development through nine key research focus areas.

The Itchi-Agu Project

The Itchi-Agu outreach and engagement activities were held from December 01, 2022 to July 31, 2023. Located in Igbo-Eze South LGA of Enugu State, Nigeria, Itchi-Agu is about 11 km from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. 

In this rural community that depends entirely on streams and springs, as high as 75.3% of the 110 households (previously surveyed) practice open defecation and that about 91.4% of this population do not treat their water to make it safe for drinking.
