Capacity Building and Research Support (CBRS)
The poor access to safe water and sanitation in sub-Saharan Africa is coupled with no availability of skilled manpower in Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and research sectors. Yet, most universities in the region turn out graduates lacking in international competence and perform research that neither impacts on policy-making nor improve health. This programme aims at establishing collaborations with and between universities and at helping to transform partner institutions through centres and modules (that will complement university education) and to develop capacity and contribute in advancing knowledge in the WASH sector. It is hoped that the partner institutions will start offering degree programmes in WASH.
